Set up selfie points with PM image in background: UGC
Saturday, 2 December 2023 The University Grants Commission has asked universities and colleges across the country to set up 'selfie points' at strategic locations in their campus to raise awareness among youngsters about India's achievements in various fields. The selfie points are to be created "in accordance with approved designs in 3D layouts shared by the ministry of education". UGC has shared samples of the selfie points which has PM Narendra Modi's photo along snapshots of the government's achievements in the fields of education and innovation.
Join us as we speak with Sukhdev Thorat, former Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), about the recent unprecedented disruptions in India's higher education examination system. In this revealing interview, Thorat discusses the impact of the centralised admission policies introduced by the New Education Policy 2020, and the move from decentralised to centralised testing systems. He highlights how outsourcing exam administration to private parties has led to increased chances of exam leaks and compromised the integrity of these crucial assessments. Thorat also explains the consequences of these changes on students aspiring for higher education and academic positions. With the frequency of exam leaks and other issues escalating, Thorat's insights offer a deep understanding of the current challenges facing India's education system and the urgent need for reforms. Don't miss this crucial conversation on the state of higher education in India and what it means for the future of millions of students.

Former President Donald Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Thomas Crooks fired five shots from an AR-15 rifle from a 120-yard distance. The incident highlighted critical security lapses compared to the SPG protocols for India's PM Modi, which include limited exposure and thorough sweeps. Footage revealed disorganised Secret Service personnel, insufficient Bullet-resistant shields, and Sniper protection. This event recalls the assassination of Japan's former PM Shinzo Abe and underscores the urgent need for a comprehensive review of security measures for political candidates.
