India finds quality issues with cough syrup linked to Cameroon deaths - sources
Tests of a cough syrup linked to deaths in Cameroon found quality issues in one of the samples from Riemann Labs. The deaths of 141 children in Gambia, Uzbekistan, and Cameroon have raised concerns about the quality of Indian drug exports. Indian authorities suspended Riemann's production after a sample of Naturcold syrup contained high levels of diethylene glycol. Other Indian cough syrup makers linked to deaths are also applying to reopen their factories. India has implemented mandatory tests for cough syrup exports and increased scrutiny of drugmakers.
