Rs 561 crore Central project to help Chennai fight floods
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed the Ministry of Home Affairs to release the second instalment of the Centre's contribution to the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) for Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu in view of the floods caused by Cyclone Michaung. The death toll from the cyclone has reached 33 across 3 states, with an additional six fatalities in Chennai. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh conducted an aerial survey of Chennai and announced funds.
