Kanam Rajendran, veteran CPI leader and state secretary, died at a private hospital in Kochi at the age of 73 due to cardiac arrest. He had been undergoing treatment for multiple ailments, including heart and kidney issues and diabetes. His sudden demise came as a shock to political parties in the state. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and other ministers visited the hospital to pay their respects. Rajendran was known for his strong political stands and was considered a corrective force in the Left front.
