Equity and climate justice must be basis of climate action: India at COP28

IndiaTimes Saturday, 9 December 2023
India firmly believes that equity and climate justice must be the basis of climate action and this can be ensured only when the developed countries take the lead in combating climate change, Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav said here at the COP28 on Saturday. Delivering the country's national statement here at the high-level segment at the annual climate conference, Yadav also highlighted India's contribution, noting that New Delhi reduced its GDP emission intensity by 33 per cent between 2005 and 2019, achieving the target 11 years in advance.

Russia Denies Recruiting Indians for Ukraine War, Vows to Repatriate Stranded Soldiers | Details

Russia has officially denied claims that it has been recruiting Indian citizens to fight in the Ukraine war. The Russian Embassy in New Delhi emphasized that it has not engaged in any fraudulent schemes or recruitment drives targeting Indians. Instead, Moscow is working closely with New Delhi to repatriate Indian nationals who voluntarily joined the Russian military. The embassy expressed condolences for the casualties among Indian soldiers and assured that Russia will honor all contractual obligations, including financial compensation. The situation has come under scrutiny as human traffickers lured Indians into military service with false promises, prompting a significant diplomatic response from both countries. #Russia #UkraineWar #IndianSoldiers #Repatriation #DiplomaticRelations #HumanTrafficking #RussianEmbassy #IndianNationals #MilitaryService #Moscow #NewDelhi #Casualties #ContractualObligations #InternationalAffairs #RepatriationEfforts
