IndiaTimes Saturday, 9 December 2023
A tiger has been spotted at an altitude of 3,640 metres in a Sikkim sanctuary, making it the highest point at which the animal has been sighted in India. Trap cameras placed at Pangolakha Wildlife Sanctuary captured the image, revealing the existence of a potential tiger corridor. The sanctuary serves as a corridor for tigers entering the forests of north Sikkim from Bhutan. This sighting is the highest altitude tiger sighting in India and the first record from the higher reaches of Pangolakha.
