From tuning-in bikes to blocking goals, Lucknow's Amir is hockey's latest spotlight
Wednesday, 13 December 2023 Amir Ali, a star junior hockey international defender, used his skills to block a last-second penalty corner in the quarter-final match against the Dutch, giving India a 4-3 comeback win in the Junior Men's Hockey World Cup. Despite being down 2-0 in the first quarter, the Indian team stuck to their plan and fought hard. Amir's instinct helped him successfully tackle the penalty corner, preventing the Dutch from drawing level and forcing a shootout.
