Parliament breach: Security lapse despite alert raises brows
Smoke canisters hidden in shoes caught the Parliament security staff unawares despite an alert issued by intelligence agencies. Members of Parliament were allowed in close proximity of the intruders, raising concerns. The Union home ministry has ordered a security review. Police handled the canisters casually while the suspects were talking to the media. Another lapse was the sluggish deployment of CBRN teams. Officials are checking the actual deployment of security. Visitors are not allowed to take certain items as per the security manual.
