More than a third of power consumed in Delhi is green
Thursday, 14 December 2023 Over one-third of the total electricity consumed by Delhi residents comes from renewable energy sources. The power distribution companies have signed long-term power purchase agreements for 8,267 MW to cater to the rising demand for electricity, of which 34% comes from renewable energy such as solar, wind, hydro, and waste-to-energy sources. Delhi's share of renewable energy is likely to cross 50% in the next four years. BSES Rajdhani Power Limited and BSES Yamuna Power Limited, covering two-thirds of Delhi, have a share of 69% and 31% respectively. The Delhi government is finalizing a solar power policy to generate green energy.
