Dhoni’s plea gets IPS officer 15 days’ jail
IPS officer Sampath Kumar sentenced to 15 days in jail for contempt after making "contumacious" statements against the judiciary in response to a defamation suit filed by cricketer MS Dhoni regarding an alleged IPL betting scam. In his response, Kumar insinuated that the Supreme Court deviated from the rule of law and kept the Justice Mudgal Committee's deposition in a sealed cover. He also alleged that the Supreme Court had a motive in not providing the sealed cover to CBI officer Vivek Priyandarshini for investigation.
