Parliament security breach: Soft-spoken tutor Lalit Jha 'never talked politics', was looking for job
Friday, 15 December 2023 Hatiara, a neighborhood in Kolkata, is shocked to discover that Lalit Jha, a private tutor, is the alleged mastermind behind the smoke canister attack in Parliament. Jha had a rented accommodation in Hatiara and left for Bihar with his family on December 10. He used to tutor and work at a local school but had been unemployed recently. He was even spotted selling vegetables. Despite his quiet nature, he would visit a tea stall for a cup of tea and a smoke. Jha's brother, Shambhu Jha, who works at a garment showroom, was clueless about the plot.
The recent Lok Sabha security breach resulted in charges under the UAPA against individuals spraying gas inside Parliament. Sagar, Manoranjan, Amol, Neelam, Vishal, and Lalit, unemployed and unknown to their families, breached security, raising concerns. Home Affairs initiated an inquiry, leading to...

Junior doctors in Kolkata have entered the third consecutive day of their protest, staging a sit-in outside Swasthya Bhavan since Tuesday afternoon. Their demands for better working conditions and urgent attention from the state government remain unmet. A series of emails have been exchanged between the doctors and the government, with Nabanna, the state secretariat, requesting a meeting. However, the junior doctors have responded with counter-conditions, and the meeting has yet to materialise.
Despite the ongoing stalemate, the protest has garnered widespread support from the local community. Residents of Salt Lake, along with various NGOs, local societies, and ex-students from nearby schools, have stepped in to provide food and water to the doctors. With visuals from both daylight and night, the scene highlights the continued resolve of the junior doctors and the mass support they are receiving from the public.

Rahul Gandhi, addressing the Indian diaspora in Dallas, claimed that fear of the BJP and Prime Minister Modi has dissipated since the recent Lok Sabha election. He referenced his post-election Parliament speech mentioning 'Abhayamudra', a symbol of fearlessness in Indian religions. Gandhi asserted that the BJP couldn't comprehend this concept. He emphasized that the diminished fear of the ruling party was not his or Congress's achievement, but a significant accomplishment of the Indian people recognizing democracy's power.
