Sons drown in Pune resort pond, couple gets Rs 1.99 crore relief

IndiaTimes Sunday, 17 December 2023
A consumer rights panel in Kochi has ordered Karandi Valley resort in Pune to pay Rs 1.99 crore to a couple whose two sons drowned due to safety lapses at the facility. The parents alleged that the resort owners had failed to provide safety measures as promised, including a guide. The commission ruled in favor of the parents, stating that the opposite parties did not provide their versions and were set as 'ex parte'. The panel also recommended including disaster management lessons in the school curriculum in Kerala.
