Maharashtra brings CM under ambit of lokayukta bill

IndiaTimes Monday, 18 December 2023
The Lokayukta Bill 2022 in Maharashtra brings the chief minister under the anti-corruption authority; replaces the old Lokayukta & Uplokayukta Act, 1971; the highest public office is now accountable to the ombudsman. The draft was created after meetings with Anna Hazare. If the Lokayukta finds merit in a complaint against the CM, he can start a preliminary inquiry and seek the Vidhan Sabha's permission to prosecute the CM.
