Madras High court says no to ED officer bail plea

The Madras high court dismissed on Wednesday the bail plea of Enforcement Directorate (ED) officer Ankit Tiwari, who was arrested by Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) sleuths for allegedly taking a bribe from a doctor in Dindigul district. DVAC booked Tiwari for offences under Section 7 (a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act based on the complaint of Dr T Suresh Babu, chief civil surgeon, Dindigul government medical college hospital. According to the prosecution, Tiwari initially demanded Rs 3 crore for not taking action against the complaint pending against Babu.
