Compare India with democracies, not China: PM Modi

IndiaTimes Friday, 22 December 2023
Amid repeated comparisons with China, PM Narendra Modi has said that India should be compared with other democracies and not with its neighbour, while dismissing concerns over unemployment, corruption, administrative hurdles and skills gap in the country. “It is important to recognise that India wouldn’t have achieved the status of the world’s fastest-growing economy if the issues you have highlighted were as pervasive as suggested,” he told the Financial Times in an interview. “Often, these concerns stem from perceptions, and altering perceptions sometimes takes time,” he added.
