640 new infections take active Covid cases to 2,997; one death in 24 hours

As of the latest update, India reported 640 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total case tally to 4.5 crore. The active cases increased to 2,997, and the death toll stands at 5,33,328, with one death reported in Kerala. The country's recovery rate is 98.8%, with 4,44,70,887 people having recuperated from the disease. Despite the recent increase, the government currently has no plans to issue travel advisories or make testing mandatory at airports, as done during previous peaks in Covid cases.
