Principal suspended after boys made to clean toilet in Bengaluru

Students at Government Model Higher Primary School in Andrahalli, Peenya were forced to clean their school toilet, leading to protests by parents and civil society members. The headmistress, Lakshmidevamma, was suspended after a video of two boys cleaning the toilet went viral. A similar incident occurred at Moraji Desai Residential School in Kolar last week. The Jaya Karnataka Maharashi Valmiki Trust and parents of the students filed a complaint with the block level education officer. Political leaders have condemned the incidents.
