Sunday, 24 December 2023 The Department of Archives, Archaeology and Museums, recovered two very rare sculptures — one of Lord Shiva and another of Goddess Indrani (God Indra’s consort) — dating back to the 12th century AD from a site in Bhour Camp area on the outskirts of Jammu, officials said. As per preliminary findings, the Lord Shiva sculpture measures 21x14 inches and weighs approximately 40kg, while the statue of Goddess Indrani measures 28x13.5 inches and weighs around 55kg, officials said.
Continuous heavy rainfall has battered numerous areas of Jammu and Kashmir, compelling the Union territory administration to take precautionary measures by closing schools across the Kashmir valley and Reasi district, as reported by officials. The persistent downpour in recent days has inflicted severe damage in various regions. Flash floods and landslides, triggered by the torrential rain, have affected parts of Poonch and northern Kashmir, resulting in damage to both public infrastructure and private property.
