UP to enact law to ensure safety and security of lifts and escalators: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
Monday, 25 December 2023
UP CM Adityanath instructed the creation of a law to ensure the safety of lifts and escalators in multi-storey buildings. The law will enforce adherence to construction procedures, quality standards, safety features, and maintenance guidelines. Currently, there is no applicable law in Uttar Pradesh, unlike other provinces. The law will make registration mandatory for new and existing lifts and escalators. Compliance with BIS standards, building codes, and installation of safety features like auto rescue devices, emergency bells, CCTV cameras, and communication systems will also be mandatory.
