Calling Union govt central govt won’t dilute federalism: HC

IndiaTimes Tuesday, 26 December 2023
The Delhi high court recently held that the use of the expression 'central government' instead of 'Union government' does not dilute federalism, which is a part of the basic structure of the Indian Constitution. The court dismissed a PIL filed by a social activist, Atmaram Saraogi, who argued that India being a 'Union of States' should not have a 'central government'. The court stated that the foundation of our country's governance is based on the basic structure of the Constitution and the use of the term 'central government' does not violate it.
