Cops get HC notice for ‘turning blind eye to order’
Wednesday, 27 December 2023
The Punjab and Haryana HC has issued show-cause notices to senior Haryana police officers for a conscious departure from their undertaking before the court, asking why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against them. The officers, including ADGP Shrikant Jadhav, were directed to appear in person during the next hearing. The court observed a deliberate attempt by the officials to breach the undertaking. The case involves a plea by Sunil Kumar Hooda, who sought revival of his petition after the police took actions contrary to their undertaking.
