Cabinet OKs pact on migration and mobility with Italy

The Cabinet on Wednesday gave post-facto approval to the ‘Migration and Mobility Agreement’ between India and Italy, aiming to enhance people-to-people contacts and facilitate mobility of students, skilled workers and business professionals. It will also boost cooperation on issues related to irregular migration. ​​​​​Cooperation between India and Italy in the fight against irregular migration has also been formalised through the agreement. Some of the key provisions of the MoU include allowing temporary residence of up to one year in Italy to Indian students wishing to gather initial professional experience after completing academic and vocational training there.
