The Indian government has formally requested Pakistan to extradite Hafiz Saeed, the chief of Lashkar-e-Taiba and mastermind behind the Mumbai attacks. Despite lacking an extradition treaty, India has previously sought Pakistan's assistance in the investigation, but received no response. The request for extradition aligns with an Indian court order calling for Saeed's prosecution in Pakistan or his transfer to India for trial. Saeed is listed by the UN as associated with al-Qaida and the US has offered a $10 million reward for information on him.
