CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury criticized the inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya by PM Modi and other Constitutional functionaries, calling it a "gross misuse of religious sentiments" for BJP's political gain. Yechury emphasized the separation of religion from politics and the state as defined by the Constitution. He condemned the overt politicization of religion and urged strict adherence to secularism. Yechury also raised concerns about the surveillance state, the alleged failure of the economy, unemployment, lack of domestic demand, and low per capita income in India.
