Sharda temple in PoK 'encroached by Pakistan Army'; committee seeks govt help for restoration
The Save Sharda Committee seeks Indian government's help to remove encroachment by Pakistan Army on Sharda temple premises in POK for restoration. Pakistan Army opened a coffee home despite a court order. Civil society in PoK also raised voice against encroachments and damages to the boundary wall. Committee demands reopening of Sharda Peeth for pilgrimage and calls for a march to LoC if the coffee home is not removed. Sharda Peeth should be declared a Unesco heritage site. A website provides information and travel guide for the newly reconstructed Sharda temple at Teetwal.
