Sitaram Yechury, the 72-year-old General Secretary of CPM, passed away at AIIMS Delhi due to lung complications. Born in 1952, Yechury rose from student activism to lead the CPM, becoming its General Secretary in 2015. A native of Andhra Pradesh, he was educated at St. Stephen's College and JNU. Yechury's political journey included key roles in SFI and CPM.
