Kashi is now known as cleft capital of world for conducting highest cleft ops

Kashi, the land of Sushruta, the great surgeon who pioneered plastic surgery 2600 years ago, is now known as the 'Cleft Capital of the World' for conducting the highest number of cleft surgeries. Dr Subodh Kumar Singh, a renowned cleft and plastic surgeon, has been elected as the vice-president (president elect) of the Association of Plastic Surgeons of India. His hospital has performed the highest number of free cleft surgeries in the world, earning Varanasi its title. He has also made significant contributions to the treatment of cleft lip and cleft palate patients in India.
