Home ministry likely to notify three criminal laws before January 26

IndiaTimes Tuesday, 2 January 2024
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is set to notify the three new criminal justice acts before January 26, replacing colonial laws. The new laws, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, will be implemented with a training program for police officers and forensic professionals. The program aims to ensure fair and evidence-based investigations, speedy trials, and the implementation of the new laws. Additionally, the MHA will establish a model electronic record system in Chandigarh and provide 900 FSL vans for collecting forensic evidence. The new laws prioritize electronic records, victim information, and forensic evidence to expedite justice.

AFSPA Reimposed in Manipur’s 6 Police Stations: Insurgency Intensifies & Violence Surges in Villages

The Indian government has reimposed the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in six police station areas of Manipur, as the state's security situation deteriorates. Citing a "volatile" environment and increasing insurgent activity, the Ministry of Home Affairs has extended AFSPA to regions severely affected by ethnic violence. Despite the deployment of additional paramilitary forces, violence continues to spiral, with clashes between militants and security forces claiming hundreds of lives over the past 18 months. In this video, we explore the implications of this decision, the ongoing unrest, and whether AFSPA can restore peace or fuel further conflict in the region. #Manipur #AFSPA #Insurgency #IndianArmy #EthnicViolence #SecurityForces #MilitaryAction #ManipurViolence #AFSPAManipur #HomeMinistry #DisturbedAreas #IndiaUnrest #ManipurCrisis #ViolenceInManipur #InsurgentGroups #RestoringOrder ~PR.274~ED.103~HT.336~GR.125~
