Tuesday, 2 January 2024 Kashmir Valley continued to reel under severe cold conditions with temperatures plunging to -5.2°C in Srinagar and -6.2°C in Pahalgam on Monday night. At -5.2°C, Srinagar’s lowest temperature was below 2.7°C below normal for the summer capital at this time of the year, a Met official said Tuesday. Qazigund shivered at -4.4°C, which was 1.5°C below normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, the official added. For the famous ski destination of Pahalgam, the minimum temperature of -6.2°C was 0.4°C above normal. In Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, the mercury dipped to -2.7°C (0.8°C above normal).
