Desi anti-drone system to be installed along Pakistan border in 6 months
Tuesday, 2 January 2024 A fully-indigenous anti-drone system is set to be installed across the country's western border in six months to block drones being used by elements in Pakistan to smuggle arms and narcotics into India, particularly Punjab. A senior government functionary said trials of the anti-drone technology were going on, with three options being tested. "The anti-drone system to be put in place across the entire western border will either be one of the three systems or a combination of two or more technologies," the functionary said.
The Bannu military cantonment in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, located over 330 km east of Islamabad, came under a severe attack early on Monday (July 15). The assault, reportedly led by several suicide bombers, resulted in a prolonged gunbattle with security forces. The militant group Jaish Fursan-e-Muhammad, a faction of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) led by Hafiz Gul Bahadur, claimed responsibility for the attack. According to Pakistani state media, the incident began when the assailants attempted to breach the cantonment’s security perimeter with an explosive-laden vehicle.

The Shehbaz Sharif-led government in Pakistan has decided to ban the jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, the country's Information Minister announced on Monday. The PTI is Pakistan's largest opposition party. Attaullah Tarar, the Pakistani Minister for Information and Broadcasting, announced in a press conference that the decision to ban the PTI was made due to alleged anti-state activities. The case will be referred to the Supreme Court, according to Pakistani media.
