Dengue patient raped thrice in ICU: Apollo sweeper gets 7 years in jail, Pak-origin doctor on the run

A sweeper of Apollo Hospital in Gandhinagar district court has been sentenced to seven-year imprisonment for raping a 19-year-old dengue patient. The court also fined the convict Rs 2,000 and ordered a compensation of Rs 20,000 to the victim. A Pakistani doctor, who was also charged with rape, absconded after being released on bail. The incident had raised concerns about the illegal employment of doctors of Pakistani origin in private hospitals.
