Promised American dream, Gujarat woman cheated out of Rs 71 lakh

A 22-year-old woman from Mansa in Gandhinagar filed a complaint accusing a man from Nikol of cheating her out of Rs 71 lakh. Meena Patel, a fourth-year physiotherapy student, said her parents in London transferred Rs 65 lakh to Jasmin's bank account between January 2021 and September 2023. She also gave him a gold biscuit worth Rs 6 lakh. Jasmin, who promised to help her move to the US, turned out to be married. He threatened to circulate her personal photographs and forced her to sign a marriage contract.
