Lean travel season kicks in: IndiGo removes fuel surcharge from today citing lower jet fuel price
Thursday, 4 January 2024 IndiGo has withdrawn the fuel surcharge introduced in October due to surging ATF prices. The charge was being levied from October 6, 2023. IndiGo announced the removal of the fuel charge on domestic and international routes, effective January 4, 2024. Other airlines did not follow suit when the surcharge was introduced last October. Weak travel sentiment and high airfares led to people opting for trains instead of flights during the festive season. Airlines later lowered airfares, prompting many to cancel train tickets and fly back in November.
IndiGo Flight 6E2211 faced a bomb threat at Delhi airport, leading to its relocation for inspection. A bomb disposal team and aviation security were deployed. The Delhi Fire Services received reports of a bomb onboard, prompting passenger evacuation. IndiGo followed safety protocols, ensuring passenger safety. Meanwhile, heightened security concerns persist, evidenced by recent threats in Mumbai and Delhi. Comprehensive security measures and collaborative efforts are crucial to mitigate risks and ensure public safety.
