'Learn & Serve': Spending 3 months in district hospital must for post graduate medicos now

The National Medical Commission (NMC) released the 'Post-Graduate Medical Education Regulations of 2023', requiring postgraduate medicos to spend three months in a district hospital to learn and serve. However, the regulations did not define work hours for resident doctors, leading to disagreements. The guidelines mentioned 'reasonable work hours and reasonable rest hours in a day' without clear definitions. The guidelines also did not address the mental health of young doctors, which has been a major concern. The regulations did include provisions for stipends but private colleges may not adhere to the norms.
