Man tortures stray dog with iron rod and drags it in Madurai; arrested
Friday, 5 January 2024 The Madurai city police arrested a 32-year-old man, M Palaniappan, for torturing a stray dog near Tamil Sangam Road. This follows a previous incident of poisoning several stray dogs by miscreants. Palaniappan tied the legs of the dog with a metal wire, dragged it along the road, and struck it with an iron pipe. The incident was recorded in a viral video. Animal welfare activist, Bala, intervened to rescue the dog. Palaniappan has been booked under animal cruelty laws.
