MoU between India, USAID/India to help Railways achieve net-zero carbon emission gets Cabinet nod

The Union Cabinet approves an MoU between India and USAID/India to help the Indian Railways achieve net-zero carbon emission by 2030. The MoU facilitates utility modernisation, advanced energy solutions, regional energy and market integration, private sector participation, training, and knowledge sharing. It focuses on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and clean energy procurement. The Indian Railways and USAID/India will work together on long-term energy planning, energy efficiency policy, clean energy procurement, and addressing regulatory barriers. The MoU aims to reduce dependence on imported fuel and promote local ecosystem and product development.
