The long-cherished dream of an underwater metro journey in India is on the verge of realization. The East-West Metro is set to commence operations this year, connecting Howrah and Kolkata beneath the Hooghly River. The construction of twin subaqueous tunnels, spanning 520 meters, is an engineering marvel completed within a record 66 days.
