Governor can remove minister only on cabinet advice: SC on Senthil Balaji
The Supreme Court rejects a plea challenging the continuance of V Senthil Balaji as a minister in Tamil Nadu. The court states that the governor can remove him only on the recommendation of the cabinet. Balaji was arrested in a cash-for-jobs scam and has been divested of his portfolios but continues to be a minister. The Madras High Court had refused to consider a petition against Balaji's continuance, and the Supreme Court concurs with this view.
