‘One Indian deported a day from US for illegal entry, stay in 2023’

In late December, a flight bound for Nicaragua with 303 Indian passengers was grounded at a French airport, reigniting concerns about illegal immigration from India. Turns out, in 2023, the US de ported at least one Indian a day either for not having the proper papers or entering/ residing in the country un lawfully, according to data from the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The American authorities sent back 370 Indians in the past year, revealed figu res from ICE. Between 2018 and 2023, a total of 5,477 Indians were deported from the US to India for illegal entry and stay.
