'Wanted to serve the nation': In Rajasthan's desert, women part of BSF team that guards border
Saturday, 6 January 2024
Women in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district are defying stereotypes by patrolling the India-Pakistan border. Despite extreme weather conditions and opposition from their families, these women guard the border with dedication and efficiency. While facing challenges such as sandstorms and encounters with vipers, they patrol on camelbacks and work long shifts, including night patrolling. The Border Security Force (BSF) deploys women in each battalion in the sector, with at least one female personnel in each section. These women demand no special treatment but want to be an integral part of the BSF.
