Women now hold key positions in the Railway Board, the top decision-making body of the railway ministry. Seema Kumar has been appointed as member in charge of operations and business development, Naveen Kumar as director general of HR, and Satish Kumar as member in charge of traction and rolling stock. This is a historic moment as it marks the first time that women have held such positions in the Board. Last year, Jaya Verma Sinha became the first woman to head the Board as chairman and CEO.
