Foreigner's entry at Puri temple puts scanner on security setup

IndiaTimes Sunday, 7 January 2024
An unidentified foreign tourist entered the Puri Jagannath Temple, violating the temple tradition. The temple authorities and police failed to trace her, even though some servitors spotted her and a video of her leaving the temple went viral on social media. The security personnel and police were criticized for their negligence. The temple administration has the authority to impose fines on non-Hindus entering the shrine. The police are now reviewing the CCTV footage to identify the tourist who was wearing a salwar kameez and had her face covered.
