Inter-faith cousins mistaken for couple, thrashed in Karnataka

Two inter-faith cousins in their early 20s were assaulted for nearly three hours by a group of people who mistook them for a couple. The cousins had come to Belagavi town to apply for the unemployment dole programme. The incident took place on the banks of Fort Lake. Police have arrested nine of the 17 accused, including two minors. Despite their attempts to explain the situation, the group assaulted them. The cousins were admitted to BIMS Hospital but are now in stable condition.
