Maldives stares at Indian tourists drying up as travel biggies join boycott call; step up desi focus

The anger over derogatory remarks made by Maldives politicians against PM Modi is leading to travel companies and industry chambers boycotting the archipelago. Travel portals are seeing a surge in searches for desi destinations like Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar. EaseMyTrip has suspended all Maldives flight bookings, while MakeMyTrip has observed a 3,400% increase in searches for Lakshadweep. The Indian Chamber of Commerce has appealed to boycott Maldives, and Subhash Goyal has called for promoting Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar instead.
