'Atrocities do happen, but justice also served'
The Supreme Court's verdict quashing the remission granted by the Gujarat government to 11 convicts in the gang-rape case of Bilkis Bano is a boost of confidence that justice is served. The court observed the Gujarat government's complicity with the convicts and transferred the trial out of Gujarat. It is a matter of shame that the state machinery was working to save the rapists. Bilkis Bano's problems are not over, and the government must protect her.
