Rajasthan minister quits after defeat in polls that were suspended

Junior minister Surender Pal Singh TT, who had been assigned five portfolios in the new Rajasthan BJP government, lost the assembly election from Karanpur Monday, a result the party called β€œunexpected”. TT quit the ministry. Polling had been suspended in the seat during the Nov 25 state elections following the death of Congress sitting MLA Gurmeet Singh Kooner on Nov 15. His son, RS Kooner, beat TT by 11,283 votes.
