Dwarka couple light angeethi to beat cold, suffocate to death
Thursday, 11 January 2024
A couple died of suspected asphyxiation after smoke from an angeethi filled their room in Dwarka Sector 23. Their infant survived. The couple burned wood inside a pot to keep warm during the night. The closed room had no ventilation, causing suffocation due to a lethal build-up of carbon monoxide. Burning coal braziers release harmful gases such as carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide, which can lead to suffocation in enclosed spaces lacking proper ventilation.
