Stray dogs unleash fear in heart of Bhopal at midnight, bite 33 in 2 days

In a disturbing turn of events, 33 individuals were bitten by stray dogs in the state capital within a span of 48 hours. The canine attacks occurred on two consecutive days, with 27 people bitten on Tuesday and an additional six on Wednesday. The victims sought lifesaving anti-rabies shots at the government-run JP Hospital. The rise in stray dog incidents reflects a growing menace in the city, prompting 33 individuals to seek medical attention at JP Hospital in the last two days alone. Notably, a single dog attacked and injured 21 people in MP Nagar Zone one on Tuesday night, with additional cases reported on Wednesday. Dog bite cases have become a frequent occurrence at government-run hospitals, including Hamidia Hospital and Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital. Dr. Rakesh Srivastava, the District Civil Surgeon and JP Hospital Superintendent, acknowledged the daily influx of dog bite cases, which tends to escalate during the winter season. He denied reports of a shortage of anti-rabies injections, stating that the hospital currently has 1,500 vials in stock.
