Bhopal gas tragedy case: High Court charges 6 top government officials with contempt
Madhya Pradesh High Court issues chargesheet against the former chief secretary, two Union secretaries, and three other officials for contempt over non-compliance with court orders for medical care of Bhopal gas tragedy victims. The court criticizes their insensitivity towards the victims and disobedience to Supreme Court and High Court directions. "It is obvious that despite the lapse of more than 10 years, you respondents have demonstrated no urgency or sincerity in complying with directions of Supreme Court as well as of this court, thereby leaving gas victims in the lurch," the bench said.
