IIM Calcutta removes director over sexual harassment plaint

Indian Institute of Management Calcutta removes Sahadeb Sarkar as director-in-charge following a sexual harassment complaint. The internal complaints committee (ICC) recommended his removal under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women at the Workplace (POSH) Act. Saibal Chattopadhyay becomes the new director-in-charge. The ICC in its recommendation had expressed concerns over holding a free and fair probe, including accessing witnesses, staff, faculty and institute documents, while Sarkar remained in his post.
